One of the coolest things about the game of Myachi is the way that it spurs creativity. Myachi invites imagination and rewards originality in a number of different ways. People come up with their own tricks, name their own combos and, quite often, even design their own Myachis.
I can't tell you how many times I've received an e-mail with an idea for a new Myachi design or had a Maniac show up at the Gon or HQ with a drawing of the Myachi he or she would like to see in the next series.
Now unfortunately, we can't dictate designs like that quite yet. We're pretty much stuck with the fabrics that are easily available in the place of manufacture (China, Pakistan, Mexico... where ever) and that limits our choices a lot. There was one instance where a Maniac's design actually got turned into a real Myachi (the Starting Line and Finish Line, both designed and named by our boy Downtown), but that's the exception.
But I figured it was high time to reward that creativity anyway. Sure, we cant' turn your design into a Myachi just yet, but at least we can hook you up with a sick Myachi that already exists for coming up with a cool design.
So Here are the Rules:
- Your design has to be an original. You can't just go with an existing Myachi design.
- You can draw your design or you can make it with Paint or Photoshop or whatever. You can even do it with chalk on a sidewalk as long as you can send us a photo.
- All designs should be Myachi shaped and have tags and glowstick loops. The more Myachi-esque your design, the better the chance it will be chosen as a finalist.
- Designs and photos can be submitted in a number of ways:
- You can put them on Photobucket or Flickr and leave the link in the comments section below.
- You can post them on Myachi's Facebook page.
- You can drop them in the Myachi Forum.
- You can email them to crazyivan@myachi.com
- You can snail mail them (ask your grandparents what that is) to Myachi HQ, PO Box 324 Glenwood Landing, NY 11547
- You can submit as many designs as you'd like. Each submission will be considered separately so the more designs you submit, the greater your chances of winning.
- All entries must be received by Sunday, March 13th. If your entry is received after midnight on the 13th it will not be considered for the prize.
- The Myachi Masters will select the top 5 entries and the finalists will be announced on Monday, March 14th. The winner will be decided by an online poll that will appear here and on Myachi's Facebook page.
- The Winner will be announced on Thursday, March 17th.
No word on what the grand prize will be so I'll update you tomorrow or Thursday. I can say that 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive a brand new 5.0 Myachi for their effort. Obviously, the Grand Prize will be even cooler than that.
Good luck. Now let's see those designs!
i have a question! i have submitted several designs, but one rule says that they needs to have tags..... what do you mean by that?
ReplyDeleteIt's a reference to the tag on the top of the Myachi, the little woven doo-hickey attached to the top that says "Myachi" on one side and has the web address on the other. Don't sweat it. I can add the Myachi tag to your submissions. It wasn't a very hard and fast rule anyway...
