One of the most long awaited series in Myachi history finally hit store shelves yesterday. If you follow this blog regularly you know that we've been playing up this new series for over a month now but due to various packaging issues we've only been able to sell a few out of our HQ. We haven't had the "Blister Packs", the type of packaging that most of our partner stores carry, in the country.
The 5.0 series is now available at our two biggest locations in New York City (FAO Shwarz and Toys R Us Time Square) and Pinky shipped them out to 30 stores around the country yesterday. Her and Kid Myach are hard at work now prepping shipments to about 70 more stores, so soon they will be dotting the landscape of the nation.
The 5.0 is a big change for us in a lot of ways. The new colors and patterns are stellar, but there is something far more significant in this series than the Hound's Tooth or the General. These suckers are in a newly redesigned package that says goodbye to the brick wall image that has been associated with Myachi since 2003.
The new package features Myachi Man and Kid Myach duking it out in a futuristic stadium that looks kind of like the Tron version of the Myachigon. The back is also redesigned with steel trussing dividing up different sections. But the coolest thing on the new package is tucked away on the bottom right corner of the back, right below the picture of Animal playing MYACH in his bedroom. It's the new price.
$4.99, folks. A $2.00 reduction on the price we've charged for every Blister Pack we've ever sold. Our expanding base of customers has allowed us to bring in our game cheaper. I suppose a lot of companies would just pocket the difference, but we still believe that getting the game out there for all to see is more important than making an extra couple bucks a Myachi.
Of course, to get there, we did have to remove the Finger Knugz from the package. We'll be phasing those out altogether so I recommend that collectors set aside a few pairs to keep mint. They'll be harder and harder to come by in the coming years and I have a sneaking suspicion that they'll be quite the novelty to collectors by about 2014.
If you live in NYC this article is probably really exciting, but for those of you who are elsewhere in the world you'll probably still have to wait a few more days before any of this effects you. The series is not yet available at myachiworld.com, but we'll have it up there very soon.
I'll also have Pinky put a list together for me of all the stores she knows she sent 5.0s to so that tomorrow or the next day I can publish that list for all of our readers that are scattered about the US. For our non-US readers.... well, I guess you'll have to wait on the website.
